Environmental Cleanup Success Stories: Tonopah Soil Remediation Project

Recently, our team had the opportunity to support a soil remediation project in Tonopah, Nevada. It was also a chance to put our new vac truck to work in real-world field conditions.

When soil may be impacted by past activity, buried waste, spills, or unknown site conditions, cleanup has to be handled carefully.

The Challenge

Environmental cleanup projects are rarely as simple as digging up soil and hauling it away. When potentially impacted soil, underground infrastructure, or unknown site conditions are involved, every step must be approached carefully.

For this Tonopah project, our team worked in open field conditions around exposed ground and underground utility areas. Situations like these require controlled excavation methods that help crews to remove material safely while minimizing disturbance to surrounding infrastructure.

Remote Nevada job sites can also present additional challenges, like limited access to resources and equipment, dry &compact soil conditions, and existing underground utilities. We also have to stay in compliance with the local codes and follow material handling and disposal considerations.

How Hero Environmental Services Handled The Project?

To support the project, we deployed our new vac truck for controlled soil removal and site support activities, which is important when crews need to work around sensitive areas. During the project, our crew worked around exposed ground, buried pipe areas, and open jobsite conditions that required careful excavation and material handling.

Unlike traditional excavation methods, vacuum excavation allows our crews to remove material with care, making it ideal for work around underground infrastructure and other sensitive areas. It helps reduce unnecessary disturbance, keeps the work area more organized, and helps the team separate, remove, and manage material with better care.

With the right equipment on site, our team was able to remove material safely, work efficiently, and keep disturbance to a minimum.
